JUST AN FYI: Dismissal in the back remains an issue because every driver is not following the procedures in place for a speedy dismissal. As a reminder, we ask that you pull forward to the next available spot. wait for your child to come to the car and NOT make a left turn out of the parking lot. Also, please do not leave your car parked along the sidewalk as this causes a traffic jam. Waiting is hard on every and everyone is busy. We are sure your child's safety is as important to you as it is to us. Thanks for your cooperation as we deliver that precious cargo!

School Closings/Severe Weather: English/Spanish/French/Arabic
Cincinnati Public Schools' severe-weather procedure allows the superintendent to close schools for the day or start classes two hours late to allow time for conditions to improve.
When snow, icy conditions or other severe weather are predicted, listen to local TV or radio stations for school-closing announcements.

JANUARY TIDBITS:
New Procedures
Hartwell is committed to its academic excellence and to maintaining a safe and orderly environment for our children. We have made some changes to our procedures for those visiting our school. We also have an added security feature. Please take a minute to review these new procedures. A letter has been sent home with your child explaining them in detail as well as a link has been provided. Remember our goal is the safety of your children.
PTCC CANDY SALE:
PTCC candy sale will start this month. Students will be sent home with information about selling World's Finest Chocolate Bars. Candy will be sent home on Tuesday, January 29th to students who have returned a permission slip. It is our goal to sell 500 cases of candy. If every child sells just one case, it will be a very easy goal to reach!

FINE ARTS FUN:
Fine Arts Fun will start January 14th. Registered students in K-2 will attend on Mondays and Wednesdays. Registered students in grades 3-8 will attend on Tuesdays and Thursdays, starting Tuesday, January 15th. (Please note day change for 3rd grade.) Be watching for Fine Arts Fun registration forms to come home with your child and return them as soon as possible.
BREAKFAST:
Breakfast is free to every student every day. However, your child must be on time to eat. School starts at 7:45. Please be aware of the times because lunch rooms staff needs the time between breakfast and lunch to prepare 600 students eating lunch.

LUNCH:
Starting this month every student will have a "pin" number they will enter fro their lunch. This helps Food Service track which students and how many students are eating lunch. Grades 4-8 started using their pin numbers in November and have done really well. Children will be given their individual "pin" number and teachers will have a list as well. It would be a huge help if you would help your child memorize their numbger. This does not change the cost or availability of lunch for your child It is simply for data purposes.
PARENT CONFERENCES:
Thanks to all the parents that were able to make our January 31 conference night. If you were unable to make it or need to schedule a conference with your child's teacher, please give us a call.
